March 2026: A Spotlight on Sydney!

Spotlight: Sydney

March 2026

Artwork by: Kareena Zerefos

Hi Reader,

Sydney is a city known for its sunshine, coastal lifestyle and iconic buildings. While most of us are familiar with its groundbreaking architecture and glorious harbour, a little less known is the creative hum that keeps communities and people on their toes. The work that erupts out of the city is fresh, evolving and curious.

This month we dive into the worlds of Sydney creatives Zoe Crocker, Jocelyne Kurniawan and Daniel Ting Chong, as well as former Sydney resident (now Lisbon local) Kareena Zerefos, whose stunning work we have featured above!

If you love trivia, check out DESIGNerd, an app that tests your design history and knowledge. Not just for designers of course!

We are still taking pre-orders for the TDK book which will be out later this year. In our first ever book (!!) we will feature city guides, features and articles from big name creatives and emerging designers, we can't wait to share it with you!

Check out if a #TDKTuesdays event is on near you and as always, we've included stuff that is currently coming out of Sydney!

Have a great month everyone - and please send us through anything that looks awesome out there. Get in touch via Insta, Linkedin or reply to this email!

Zoe Crocker

A motion designer and director, Zoe thinks less about visual style and more about how she thinks: her taste, her instincts, her point of view. In an era where AI can replicate almost anything, she's betting that's where uniqueness really lives.

Jocelyne Kurniawan

A 2025 Design Kids Gold Award Winner, Sydneysider Jocelyn's folio was described as: "visually interesting portfolio with a strong focus on community and research"

Daniel Ting Chong

Daniel is a third-generation South African Chinese designer, based in Sydney. Daniel brings empathy, clarity, and cultural nuance to every identity he buildsβ€”believing that design is not just about what we say, but what we choose not to do.

The Design Kids Book

Volume 01 will feature emerging designers from around the world, exclusive interviews, guides to our favourite TDK cities, a spotlight on our city hosts and more! Pre-orders close soon.

Global #TDKtuesdays meetups next week.

Our City Hosts bring their design communities together on the first Tuesday of every month for meetups, live events, panels, studio tours, presentations and a few laughs!

Creative Hoardings

When the Sydney public called for more artwork, the City of Sydney saw untapped canvasses! Now, developers with construction sites must cover their hoardings in art by a living Australian artist, or historical images relevant to the area where the hoarding is located. It's
